Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Tuesday 9th October to Saturday 13th October 2018
Beaconsfield Operatic Society stages the northern premier of the adult version of this well-known Andrew Lloyd Webber / Tim Rice musical - celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Ably supported by a children’s choir, the production tells the biblical story of Joseph and his brothers. Following a failed attempt to kill him, Joseph is taken to Egypt and sold into slavery. When his owner Potiphar wrongly suspects Joseph of making advances towards his wife, he has him thrown into prison. Here Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams comes to the attention of the Pharaoh and Joseph eventually becomes the second most powerful man in Egypt. Through many turns and twists in the story he is eventually reunited with his father and brothers and once again wears his amazing coloured coat.
The show has a fabulous score including the songs “Joseph’s Coat”, “One More Angel in Heaven”, “Close Every Door” and “Any Dream Will Do” – and is great entertainment for all the family.
